The main point of a retreat is to relax and discover God in the silence, in the stillness, in worship, in reading and enjoying the beauty of creation. Everyone is welcome to enjoy this experience. Many come to stay at Launde for a rest. The ambience of calm and prayer make it an ideal place to refresh the mind and the spirit. Retreatants are free to do as much or as little as they choose. |
Many retreatants plan their own retreats centered around worship in Chapel, which they also use for private prayer. Some use a devotional book or the Bible as a focus. Others prefer to be guided by another through their retreat. |
Help and guidance is available from the Warden, who can arrange an individually guided retreat for those who request it. This would involve meeting once each day during your stay with a spiritual director, who would listen and suggest ways forward. |

Many, who come here paint, knit, write poetry or walk. We provide maps, for those wishing to explore the countryside, guests must bring suitable footwear. |

Our house is warm and comfortable and we have wonderful cooks who produce excellent meals. In a quiet corner of our gardens, we have a hermitage. This is available for those who wish to cater for themselves and be away from others. It is only available for use from spring to autumn. |
