All the way round Leicestershire in 24 hours?

Tim’s big “thank you” walk

To benefit Launde Abbey & ActionHomeless
24–25 July 2010

Launde Abbey is a special place, with a long history. When you approach it, through the rolling Leicestershire countryside, the stress of the world seems to fall away. Thousands make this journey every year, to enjoy all that this Retreat House offers. In a world of noise, it’s a place of quiet. In a world of haste, it’s a place to unwind. In a world of pressure, it’s a place for you. Growth, encounter, spirituality — that is what Launde offers in a special way.

Last year you helped to save this wonderful place. We are renovating the main building completely. We are improving access. We will meet all modern regulations. We have made a fantastic start. We are truly thankful for everyone’s generosity.

With your help Launde has been saved — now we need to enhance it so it can be enjoyed even more.

This year Tim Blewett, the Warden of Launde Abbey, is saying “thank you” by going on a BIG THANK YOU WALK.

Not just any walk

Tim walked the Leicestershire Round in its entirety during the weekend of July 24–25.

He was raising money not just for Launde Abbey but also for ActionHomeless, the Leicester charity for homeless people. It is good to give to others. Like Launde, it also changes lives. ActionHomeless gives people a chance for change. In particular it wants to improve its services to help people move on into their own tenancies.

Afterwards...

Tim would like to thank all those who supported his walk. There are too many to mention individually for helping to get him around the Leicestershire Round but an especially big thank you must go to those who gave of their time on the support team feeding him, walking with him and being there to provide medical support which fortunately was not needed. Others supported by prayer and yet others by donating money to the two charities: Launde Abbey and ActionHomeless. All played a crucial part in enabling this walk to be the amazing success it was: the total donated stands around £2,000!
